I have a high number here AS-13xxx, and I don't even think I will get called when my number become available. How do you think?? Please advise. Thanks.

I had a question here, what if all winners in my country have very high numbers (I know it's almost impossible), and of course we are not called by KCC (USCIS) before the number becomes current. Does it mean none of us will get the GC?? Is it a conflict of "Diversity"??
Whole my idea is that is there any quotas for sure for every each country??

I am a graduated student, and using "Optional Practical training (Extension of F-1) to stay in US for one year. It will be expired in next Jan.2009. Poor me:)().
I am working now, employer is willing to sponsor to apply for H-1B (don't know the result yet) , GC for me.

Any suggestions???

It all depends on how quickly the case progresses for the region (Asia here). CN > 13000 is current in July for DV 2008 so just hope same would be the case for 2009 too. Just keep waiting for the good days, good luck !!!

Thanks for the prompt response. Here comes another serious issue.

My OPT will be expired in Jan.2009. and it will be a gap( 9~10 months) for me to get the interview.

Should I still apply for AOS. and also apply for F-1 Visa to maintain legal status in US??

or Apply for the CP, go home and wait??

I am originally thinking if I apply for F-1 Visa, and I will have a chance to apply for the H-1B as well, in case there is no GC interview.

What do you guys think?

Jerry, for this year 2009, I don't think AS00013XXX is a high CN. Because I have seen up to AS00036XXX. It seems that they have not separated the CN for all different regions (meaning CN are all mixed for all regions and CN will go up to about 100XXX). If this is the case, your CN is quite low. Keep hope! Best of Luck.

Hi P1rulz:
I hoped your idea was true. But I do not think it is what was done. Because I have not heard about numbers higher than 50000 in Asia.

Hello,

I'm from Ethiopia and my CN seems high. Any hope with this number?

Thanks

CN is 2009AF00023***

NL received at postal office - 05 May 08
Replied on - 16 May 08
DHL notified delivery of mail to KCC on 22 May 08

I think you should apply for CP. For one thing it may not be possible for you to stay in the US beyond January 2009. In addition to that, AOS can sometimes take a very long time to process leading to the risk that it may not come through before September 30 2009, which will mean that you loose your chance for a green card.
If by any chance you do find a way to stay in the US beyond jan 2009, there is no need to go home and wait, you can go home a few days before the interview and return as soon as you receive the visa.

Hi everybody,

I have just got my NL yesterday but the date on the letter is 6 May 2008. My case number is 2009AS00017xxx. Is there any chance for me?

I am filling out the DS-230 and DSP-122 at the moment. Is the Rank Order number is the same as Case Number?Shall I download the forms online and fill them in computer and then print them in A4 size paper? Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Dear HKHP2008,

What's important is that all the information you provide should be complete. It doesn't matter whether you type or hand-write the information required. Make sure you keep a copy with you before you send the completed forms.

May be rules changed!

hi, my CN is AS00034xxx and i know it is just a joke from KCC
but if you look very sober in dv2009 results, you will see only 14000 people from Asia were selected!
then I am almost sure that they changed the numbering method and any one with CN<40000 finally will have an interview!

It's simple math:
last years, highest CN was about 14000 , and we heard this year 38000 !
so compare to last year I think this is your CN based on old numbering method:
CN:1000 means 350 in old method!
CN:5000 means 1750 in old method!
CN:10000 means 3500 in old method!
CN:15000 means 5250 in old method!
CN:20000 means 7000 in old method!
CN:25000 means 8750 in old method!
CN:30000 means 10500 in old method!
CN:35000 means 12250 in old method!
CN:40000 means 14000 in old method!

I also have better news:
I think they will keep sending NL up to 55000 until end of june!
then my CN will be about 8700 in old method!

the best advise is send your docs and forget everything! but in september 1st, see the visa bulletin and ....

Last year, highest CN for Asia was 14000 (total number of winners). The total number of winners for Asia this year (DV 2009) is also about the same. I added the number and it is actually 14002 for Asia(According to the July 2008 bulletin). So, I think payam_prz is somewhat right. Otherwise, there would not be CN allocated as high as 38000 for 14002 winners from Asia.
Here are the total number of winners from each region:
Africa: 53979
Asia: 14002
Europe: 27921
Ocenia: 1801
N. America: 12
S. and C. America and Caribean: 1893.

TOTAL WINNERS: 99596, which means process of selecting winners for this year is now complete. Hope you got selected. If not, Best of Luck for Next YEAR!!!

Hello P1RULZ,

I think you have your math wrong. Asia was current last year in the final two months of Aug and Sep. this meant that anyone with an AS2007 number technically was able to acquire a visa regardless of visa number. The lottery gives out NLs to about 100k - 110k lucky people. Of those, only about 48000 finally get their GCs. Others drop for many reasons - Disqualifications on medical grounds, financial, ineligibility to enter the US, failed backround checks etc. The thing is last year CN 14000 was not the highest CN number. This was just the total number of persons who got GCs. You could have had a CN of 21000 but because Asia was current in Aug/Sep, you would still have received your card. Please dont confuse CN and number of persons awarded GCs.

Regards

bibokeyo,
I think there is a considerable difference between this year and the previous years. I do not think there were these many people (in Asia) with a number of over 14000 as this year (2009). In a forum, I saw about half of the Iranian winners (Asia,2009) have a CN over 14000. Around 63 people had participated in that study. If you think the process in this year is similar to the previous years and there were the same big case numbers in the previous years, the KCC people look illugical. Because they have been calling around half of the population in the last 2 months of the interviews.
