DV 2005 - AOS question

Hi all,

I've filed my AOS application after my number became current ..did fingerprinting too ..today the status of my application online changed to

The results of your fingerprint review for your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status were received, and processing has resumed on your case. We will mail you a notice if further action is needed, or when a decision is made.

What do I do next? I made an infopass appointment to my local USCIS office, but no one there understands the way DV works ..the office there told me that my case will be put in order with other AOS cases they have (from 2 years back) ... according to him, so long as i filed before sept, it doesn't matter when my case gets processed ... We all know this is completely wrong .. Since I don't have much time left .. I would appreciate any advice as to how I should proceed ...

Thanks in advance.

about the fingerprints: it simply means that your fingerprints were received.

And the officer is wrong - DV cases need to be expedited, since AOS needs to be finished by September 30. Perhaps, you should bring some printouts from the DOS website about the fiscal year information and talk to the supervisor, not a clerk.

How do you get to talk to the supervisor?

Yeah, how do u ask them that ? When I was adamant and kept explaining to the guy that DV cases are different, he appeared to get mad and said - "are u going to explain to me how DV cases work ?" .. I could not say much after that since I had nothing to prove my point ..had I know how ignorant they are I would have taken printouts, etc ...I guess I will just have to make another infopass appointment .. do u know if they will schedule an interview at an infopass appointment or will they just say - "wait for the letter" ...just wondering if it's going to be a waste of time ... anyone has any experience with this ?

Also how do u contact the congressman ?

Oh, one more thing. I know it sounds weird, but can you both hire a lawyer and contact the congressman? I was once told that there can exist only one inqiry per case.

Thanks .. I have been unable to find a lawyer who specializes in dv cases ... i met a few lawyer and gave them consultation fees only to realize I know more about DV cases than they do ..!!! I'm going to try and write to the congressman and senator .

DvWinner: After I got my fingerprints reviewed, my interview was scheduled within a couple of weeks (Janurary 2004). At the interview, my security check hadnt passed and my number wasn't correct, so I had to wait until August basically, and my security check finally passed. I did contact a Senators office and asked them to inquire into my case and the security check, which might have helped. Its hard to know. The senators office said they have no power to expedite the check, but my approval did come through.

Thanks nub4057 ...It's been a week since my fingerprints got reviewed ... so I guess I should give it some more time .. If nothing happens by the end of this week then I shall contact the senator ... Thanks for the info ..
