Dumb question on concurrently filed EAD

Hello, I'm sorry if this seems like a newbee question but here goes:

I am (hopefully) about to file a concurrent I-140/I-485/I-765 to the NSC. The problem is that I have a job waiting for me (based on the EAD I am about to apply for) with a start date of April 1.

I know that the latest "Processing Dates" indicate that such cases have at least a 2.5 month processing time, but I was wondering if this is usually the case. Is it "pretty assured" that the EAD processing time will take as long as the NSC (or TSC if it ends up there) web page indicates? Or do they sometimes / regularly get approved sooner? I know this may be pretty obvious, but I thought I'd ask. The reason is that I've gotten a lot of EADs in the past for my wife on a J-2 (different category from what I'm applying for now), and sometimes they've arrived in 2-3 weeks even though the web page had longer processing times.

I really don't want to piss off my future employer.

Thanks!

I am assuming that you are planning on quitting yoru current job through which you are applying for 485 (AOS). If so, you are required to wait for 180 days after you file your 140 to evoke AC21 portability, unless the rules have recently changed, that will allow you to change jobs using EAD. Its also preferable for your I-140 to be approved before you change jobs but that's a risk which you may/maynot want to take.

Thank you for your post. I am doing a EB-2 NIW and my current job (a J-1 fellowship) expires in a couple of weeks anyway. Because it's a self-sponsored I-140, neither my current nor my upcoming jobs have any role in my immigration petition/EAD/I-485. If you or anybody can answer my question in my first post above, it would be appreciated.

Things have changed since last October in how EADs are issued and that also includes processing time. Some have their cards processed within a month and there are some who are still waiting for more than 3 months. Its really hard to tell how long it will take your EAD to get processed. Sorry couldn't be more helpful.

Goodluck with your EAD.
