Drunk Driving/ GC

Hi! :) I hope you will be able to advice me. Thanks a lot!
I am Lithuanian GC winner - 2008 EU25xxx living in London. My boyfriend is also Lithuanian living in London. I am worried about getting GC as more than 2 years ago he was cought drunk driving a car, then after sometime again, driving drunk without licence (they were aleady suspended). So after court etc he spent a month in a jail.
Well my question would be if I marry him is it going to be difficult or even not possible to get GC for both of us?? Would this record show on his criminal history, police certificate?

What do you think, even if you go to USA togather ... drunk driving , drunk driving+without licence what's next..?

My wife is princpal winner for dv 2008 EU8xxx but my girl friend played and registered me as her husband without my knowledge and only informed when it was clear to her that she is not a winner.Do you think this can pose us a problem at our interview?

I hope you will tell us later after the interview wheather was a problem (for the consular officer or for your wife- I suppose it will be for both of them).

Hi baba aladura i know you are now in the US. please i need your advice. i played the DV 2008 as single but i included my elder sisters dauther 11 years as at that time, now that am married i have posted all documents to KCC, MY marrage certificat, pictures taken on the weeding day passport photos of my wife and the girl indicating that she's not my biological child through her name.I hope this is not an issue? please i want to hear from you as soon as possible.
Thanks, tolu. my NL No is 2008AF000012xx. is it low or high, will i be interviewed early.

How much do you plan to spend for 'successful interview' 2*755$ (you and your wife) or 3*755$ (you, your wife and the daughter)

But could that be a reason for not getting GC? Would this appear on his criminal history etc.? It happened before I met him. I know this is not a thing to be proud of. But what are our chances??

yes, of course, it could be a reason.

He needs to disclose his arrest, his conviction and his time in jail. Otherwise, there will be a life-time ban on entering the US, since it will show up in his criminal history in the US.

And for our own safety, I hope the consul will keep drunk drivers out of this country. We have plenty of those in the former USSR, there are some here, and we don't need more of them in the US. We don't need them killing us and our children.

Sorry if that sounds cruel, but my family is much more important to me that your drunken boyfriend's GC. You, on the other hand, are welcome to get your immigrant visa, if you have not committed any crimes.

.

First of all, she is not asking for your permission, she is asking for advice.
Secondly you kinda hurt my feelings , since I am from former USSR. You can't say that about all 3 continents in which USSR was.
I am not supporting DUI but saying that fmr USSR have plenty of drunk drivers, is something humiliating and unamerican. And I guess consular officer knows much more about preventing criminals from entering US.

'' By the time Gorbachev got to power, the drinking problem was very much out of hand in Russia. Until Gorbachev clamped down on the consumption of alcohol in June 1985, the Soviets were literally drinking themselves to death (Naylor 194). Alcohol was putting a profound strain on society. Consumption had skyrocketed during the Brezhnev era. This is especially significant considering it was already considerably high at the beginning of his era. In 1984, state revenues from the sale of alcoholic beverages reached fifty-three billion rubles, four times what it had been twenty years before. The alcohol issue became disastrous. Nearly one hundred and sixty-three million out of a population of two hundred and eighty million drink regularly; as many as twenty million are alcoholics (Sudo 14). With that many people in a society having problems with alcohol, obviously something had to be done. The annual loss to the economy from drunkenness was an estimated eighty to one hundred billion rubles. Alcoholism was the third most common ailment, after heart disease and cancer. The life expectancy of men was declining. Infant mortality rates were rising. Health of present and future generations was being corrupted. It was also responsible for most marriage breakups (Morris 48). Wives had become desperate trying to save their marriages, with their husbands practically drinking themselves to death. Crime, corruption, and cynicism were all increasing. Drunk drivers were responsible for fourteen thousand traffic deaths per year. Alcoholism was probably the largest single cause of a stunning increase in the Soviet Union's crude death rate (Kaiser 101). In 1964, there were about seven deaths per one thousand citizens. This statistic grew to almost eleven deaths per one thousand citizens in 1985. There are many causes for this widespread drunkenness. One reason is the poor living conditions. Another is the hardship of every day Russian life. Economic conditions were very difficult. A third reason is the cultural backwardness. ''

would you like to invite this guy to live in your neighborhood?
Do you want him driving in your subdivision? he has shown disregard for other people's lives and for the law - and that is not only unamerican, but inhuman.

and believe me, while the muslim parts of the Soviet Union may not be as affected by drunk drivers, the rest of the territory is pretty vast to average it out.... Unfortunately.

I'm a bit confused?

Is this the forum where we all try and help each other out or is it the one where we get all get on our high horses so we be sanctimonious and righteous to those we deem unworthy?

Either help her or don't post.

Keep you moral posturing out of it so that we can all use this forum freely.

If you want to judge someone, join a religion.
