Does this make sense?

Does it have the dry seal and signature of some clerk from their office? it is not "just" a xerox copy, it must have a seal, stamp, signature or all of them.

Actually, I never had a copy before, all I ever had was the actual certificate that they gave you when you get married. I got this from the court house we got married in and it does have the things you mentioned.

You are confusing me. Is this the certified copy or not.

That is your CERTIFIED copy... what you got from the Court House the first time you got something IS a CERTIFIED copy of your marriage certificate. The "original" is stored in the safe/archive/data base of the Court House and there it will remain, you can always get certified copies of it, usually for $1 or $2.

Thank you.

Where do you live that a certificate cost so cheap, since mine cost $15.00.

I think our certified copies were $5 or $6.

Our "original" has the original signatures of our judge, witnesses, and country clerk on them, and it's the very same document that we had with us during our wedding ... so is it still considered a copy? Our certified copies basically look like photocopies of the original with an additional stamp and signature from the county clerk stating it's a certified copy.

Alabama...

Everything in Alabama is cheap, because they still live in the 19th century....

I heard that a gallon of regular gas is 95 cents.. and you get a free brown bread with a gallon of milk at any gas station....

The only expensive thing in Alabama is a certified copy of a marriage certificate, cost $2, because it is done in NY....:D :D

That is correct, as the "original original" is recorded in their archives.

The officer did not even care to take a certify copy because when I asked if he needed it, he said if that is my only copy just gave him a regular copy.

I think alot of things are really based on the IO you get, some are very strict while others are very lenient. Thank God I got the latter because I did not expect it to be that easy. At least I expected three questions. However, I am not complaining.:D:D

I can attest that 95 cent gas was a reality in the State of Texas as recently as the mid to late 90s (even 80 cents). 20th century, that is. I think what happened since then is that the Trading Desk in a certain state inflated the currency until it became worthless ... :p
