Does the FBI check have to be done b4 September 2007?

Hi,
I am a DV-2007 winner and I have been scheduled for an interview in August 13, 2007. I was wondering if the FBI check has to be done before September 30, 2007 for me to get the GC?
What happens if you go to interview and the FBI check does not come back in time?
Please someone advice.

dear tara:
as i read before u said your case number was around 88xx and as i know the dv schedule for july is current in asia(exept the bangladesh).but here u say u have an appointment in august,do they anounce new number for interview or u find it yourself? in other word what is the meaning of current?
ps:i have a similiar case number in dv 2008 and by the way i am your hamvatan!!!
 
From what I know, for DV2007, you need to get the green card by September 30, 2007. No green card will be issued later that that date for a DV2007 winer. So, yes, the FBI check should be done by then. If it doesn't come in time, I think you need to consult an immigration lawyer.

Hey borderline (hamvatan),
I called the KCC office today and I found out that they have scheduled me for August 13. They said I should receive my package in 7-10 days. I guess current means if visa is available they are going to issue visa. Good luck to you. I will let you know what happens to my case.

I don't think the FBI clearance would come in time for me. I know of people who have applied for GC for their parents and the FBI check has taken much longer than 2-3 months.

Wish me luck...
 
the longest check I know of lasted 8 months, and the guy and his family got their visas at the end of September. There have been quite a few cases, when FBI check hasn't been finished on time, and people didn't get their visas.

Do you know anyone who did not get checks done before Sept 30th while doing AOS recently?

Mine is stuck almost 8 months and you never know with USCIS when they will expedite it.They dont give certain date but have told me at infopass that they will expedite at the end.

they were all CP cases.

If you are doing AOS you have an option of suing USCIS (Read about it, there have been cases like that) BEFORE Sep 30. If you are doing CP - there is nothing that can be done.

Try to get help from congressman, senator, Laura Bush, immigration ombudsman, FBI.

OK, I am confused - are you doing AOS or CP? For CP, you dont need to do anything as the State Dept will do their own background check. You just show up at the interview with the medical done and police certificates from all other countries where you have resided for 6 months or more since the age of 16. So what is this talk of an FBI Check? I thought if you pass your interview on the day then they'll basically issue you a response and you're done right after you finish the interview at the US Consulate in whatever country you are.
 
thx tara for your good news,it was so important for me,let me cross my fingers ror u and wish u best....as i heard the background check for the cases which are current at these month are not prolong as the earlier cases.because most of the recent cases are checked before and at the interview your background check is already done.on the other hand originally the background check for females are rapid and basically easy.so you have a great chance to pass this step and get your brown package...omidvaram hame karha khoob pish bere.;)

you are mistaken. It depends on the country.
 
I really don't know. I guess we'll find out in a couple of months. I am from Iran and I know that they do a through check on us. I think after the interview they tell us to check a website for our number and if our number shows up, we have to go back to get the visa issued (or get the GC package).
 
What if the DV winner shows up at the interview with FBI clearance? The FBI security check can be done as an individual, but I have no idea if this clearance will be accepted by the consular.
