Does AR11 address change hurt you?

The AR11 address change form is sneaky. It requires to fill in change of employment. The AC21 is invalid after you got your GC, so, how risky is it to file AR11 after GC? Or how long should we delay filing AR11 after GC to eliminate the risk? Is the 180 days imitated after the 180 days I140 transferability a good guide?

You are NOT required to fill out an AR-11 if you only change employment. You need to fill it out if you change your address. How is that sneaky? By the way, if you wait more than 10 days to file the AR-11 you are technically risking deportation. The odds are low, but every now and then they like to make an example of someone.

Practically speaking, these things gather dust in a warehouse somewhere. Don't sweat it.
 
I think gsas is a little confused on the issue or not explaining his/her question properly.

As TheRealCanadian mentioned, if you don't file AR11 within 10 days of moving your residence, you could be deported. At the same time AR11 has NOTHING to do with job changes.

You are probably referring to AC21, and sending in AC21 is totally up to you. If you receive a RFE then you absolutely need to send it in, if you don't then it is your call.

gsas was talking about a column in AR-11 form, where it asks about the employer.

So when you change the address, you need to also fill in your employer. Incase you changed employers after getting GC, you need fillin the current employer in that column.
 
Sorry I meant the employer field on the AR11 form.

The AR11 form has the old and new address fields, but at its bottom, it has the employer field. If this is now different from the previous employer, it may find itself into some audit. This prompted my question, originally. Do you know if the 180 days bind before employer change applies after receiving GC, like it applies after I140 approval?

10 Days???

How important is 10 DAY period??

What if, you file address change after 10th day, i.e what if you post the document on 12th or 15th day but your signature has old date????

do we need to file AR-11 for all memebers of the family separately, or just the primary member change of address is fine?

Every family member needs to file AR-11.
 
gsas is right

i too think the form is sneaky. it asks for current employer. so if you move and change employer...ar-11 is like killing too birds with one stone. address and employer info will be submitted at the same time. he/she is right about the thought as to what would happen if they changed jobs right after GC and also moved.
This GC process is getting people on edge. A simple question of gsas was easily misconstrued.
people.... we are like friends/family, sharing our frustrations/happiness and maybe can help each other by being informative in a more polite manner.
