Does an H4 holder need a return flight?

Hi there. I'm an H-1B holder, and I'm getting married soon back home. We would apply for an H-4 for my wife and then head back to the US after the wedding. My question is, do I need to purchase a return flight (US inbound + outbound) for my wife, or can we just get a one-way ticket to the US for her (since we don't plan to go back to our country anytime soon after coming back to the US)?

Thanks in advance for any response.

An H holder does not need to demonstrate non-immigrant intent, so no.

Thanks for the info, RealCanadian.

I contacted the US Embassy and asked them the same question, but instead of answering my question, they kept saying "we don't advise you to purchase your flights before your visa is approved". I tried to call USCIS too, but got lost in their phone menu system. None of the phone menu options were relevant to my case.

RealCanadian is correct. You do not have to prove immigrant intent. The embassy official was also correct. Your question is not worthy of asking an embassy official or USCIS or Consular posts. The advice from the embassy stems from the fact that your return depends on visa approval and they cannot determine off-the-fly whether it can be approved.
