I just gave them everything I had back. The officer just took the stuff and didn't ask a question.
Not sure if she would have questioned if something was missing..
the immigration officer did not even look at the EAD and APs. She asked "any EAD and AP". I gave them all.
But when I went to status change from F-1 to H1 and stamping in Canada(Ottawa) long back, The immigration officer asked all the EADs(PT). I had two ( 6 months each)and I gave the latest and he asked for the first one which I had in the file and was not able to easily find out. He waited till I got the EAD and said all these documents are property of INS and should be surrendered.
BTW, I am just curious; are you sure it was INS that stamped your passport in Ottawa, Canada ? Maybe it was US consulate/embassy which is not under DOJ or Homeland Security but under Dept of State.
Also, were you with Eftia in Ottawa. I was assigned there when in Ottawa so I thought you might be someone I used to know
