Do i need to have valid passport?

Hi folks,
I'm somehow confused after reading some posts here about need to have valid passport for Citizenship interview / test. After receiving GC i have never left territory of USA, so do i need to have valid passport from my "old" country? My passport expired long time ago and i don't want to waste my money to get the new one if i don't have to...

I don't think you need a valid passport, take the expired passport with you. Search in this forum for any previous experiences..
 
There are many things for which one can not be sure whether they are needed or not. For a straight forward case, I think only thing you need
is GC and the interview letter all others are optional.
 
You don't need a valid passport for citizenship, you can take your expired one to the interview if you wish, they could ask for it. I guess they could ask just to verified how you entered the country or other trips.....but I doubt they will so if you want to, take it as an extra documentation for JUST IN CASE.

If yours is a straight forward case with no trips, then the passport should not be a an issue. I had everything I could think of with me, but the IO only asked for DL and GC.

I think you will be fine without it. Save the money and buy a US one after the oath. :D
 
Valid passport isn't required for the interview. However, a valid face is still required, so since you were last issued a GC, have you altered your face in anyway? :confused: If not, bring a nice smile and a lotioned face and hands, there is nothing more demoralizing to a handshaker than a dry face combined with a cracked dry hands, can cut your own hand......:D
