Do I need State Tax during Interview?

Hello,

1. Do I need state tax returns for Naturalization Interview (I live in CA)? If yes, given my interview is on coming Tues, any way to expedite getting CA tax returns? (I already have Fed tax transcipts).

2. I didn't submit any "cover letter" with N400 app. I understand it makes it easier for the Interview Officer if I had attached one. I plan to take one for the Interview. Can someone please point to what it should contain (I'm applying after 6 yrs after GC).

Thanks!

State taxes are not required unless your state residency comes into question.

A cover letter can help to explain more complicated cases.

Don't worry about CA tax returns. Getting a transcripts from Franchise Board of CA is expensive and takes almost 1.5 months (My personal experience). The residency requirement that Bobsmyth mentioned can be proved in many other ways like utility bills, employment verification letter etc.

There's no point in taking cover letter to your N400 interview because by now your IO has already gone over your application. Cover letter (had you sent one with your app) normally contains just list of documents you are including and anything else you may want to highlight about your case.
