Do I have to stay in US for more than half years to apply for citizenship?

In the last 5 years, I have been in the US for more than 6 months every year. I plan to go back to my home town for new year and come back in March and then submit application for US citizenship. Is this ok? Or I have to stay for more than 6 months next year before applying for citizenship? Thanks!

Hi Dragon,

Here is the link with info on the USCIS site, in case you haven't check it out yet with info on citizenship https://www.uscis.gov/us-citizenship/citizenship-through-naturalization/path-us-citizenship I'm also adding the point that might answer your question . Be physically present in the United States for at least 30 months out of the 5 years immediately preceding the date of filing the application. Probably others can share their experience and let you know as well how it went for them

Do you have a job? Just having physical presence doesn't necessarily work. Spending only 6 months/year in the US could make CIS suspicious that you're not really living here, but merely visiting and trying to get citizenship and leave. Have you filed taxes? What is your situation exactly? Are you retired?
