Hello,
I received the PR in 2002 Feb and landed in Canada from US and stayed there for 2 weeks. I received the SIN card also. Later we came back to India and don’t know much about the PR card. Is my PR still valid?
Currently I am in India and don’t want to loose the PR status. If I apply for the PR card, how long it will take to get it? Can some one give me the link related to this info?

--- Your PR status is valid one can stay out of Canada 3 years in any 5 years, many who stayed out of Canada longer tell Lie at entry point when Custom officer asks when did they left Canada they say 10 days back same info they fill on Canada customs form left 10 days back or particular date, say the same date as they fill up on custom form.

--- You have to apply PR card from Canada you cannot apply PR card from out of Canada, once you send the PR card application from Canada to PR card processing Unit it will take 10-12 weeks to get letter to pick up the PR card. You can enter Canada with landing paper before December 31 after that you need PR card to travel

i dont think this person can lie coz he went to india and will have the stamp on his passport indicating the date he arrived at indian airport

I think yes your PR is valid, for your information Canada custom officer does not check the stamps of India visit and don’t know that when you go to India you get stamp on passport, as they don’t stamp the passport for all the persons when you enter Canada. I have entered 10 times Canada by Air they just ask when you left Canada answered 2 days back (I lied on all my visits and my visit was more than year from Canada and some time 6 months), they just take the custom form and never stamped the passport for arrival my friend told custom officer he was out of Canada for 6 months then his Passport was stamped.

You can apply PR card before December if you reach Canada, as after 31 December 2003 you need PR card for travel to Canada in Air, Rail, and Bus. If you enter Canada before 31 December then you can also apply PR card later also
 
Does this mean that I need to enter into Canada before December 2003 or lose my PR status?.
