Hi all

I did not get name change document at the oath ceremony, all I got is certificate of citizenship.

I really have no idea how to get it back, can anyone give me some information about this?

Appreciate your reply ASAP.

Thanks.

A Certificate of Citizenship is issued pursuant to a form N-600 and does not have a name change petition. They can put the original name with an AKA (also known as) name. OR they will recognize a name change that was done outside the USCIS process upon submission of proof of changed name, in which case, they got the petition from you and keep it as evidence to support the name as they placed it on the certificate.

A Certificate of Naturalization is issued pursuant to a form N-400 and DOES afford a legal name change as part of the naturalization process. In that case a name change petition is suppossed to be issued if one was created as part of the USCIS process. If one was due but not delivered, you should make an InfoPass appointment and ask for a copy OR make a request by mail OR via the 1-800# OR via a Service Request online.

Was the naturalization certificate issued in the new name or the old name?

Sorry for late reply, I was awufully sick for last month so I didnt get a chance to get online and check out everything.

Anyways, the naturalization cetificate was issued in the new name, do you have any suggestions about what I should do next?

Thanks to your respond, again I apologize for the late reply because of my health situation.
I will try to make an Infopass appointment and see what they can do for me.

Yes, taking an INFOPASS is certainly a good idea.

Was the naturalization ceremony conducted at a court by a judge? Or at USCIS office?

If the oath was conducted in a court by a judge, then that court was most likely the one that was supposed to issue a name change order. You can go to that court and talk to the court clerk, explain your situation and show your naturalization certificate. The court clerk should then, hopefully, be able to issue you a certified copy of the court order for the name change directly.

If the oath was an administrative oath conducted by USCIS, then an INFOPASS appointment is your only option.
