All,
Denver had a huge oath ceremony on May 28th.
Highlights
1) Attended by a senator, Lt Governer etc
2) 1,800 people were given oath
3) Check-in into the hall was a 90 min process.
4) Queue started at (well before 9:00a) and ceremony started at about 11:30 (ish)
5) People were divided into red white and blue groups to split the crowd.
6) Checking Queue was by (first charactoer of) last name. Qs for Letters S, T etc where really big and other were small. They could have better handled by looking the "spread" of first character of last name
7) Huge lines getting out again
8) Took my filled up pass port applicatoion and applied for passport. Point to note: It is safe to take 2 checks per applcation. One for processing fee and other for Dept Of State. I went with one and had to borrow $25 from a friend to pay USPS.

Humorus notes
1) When they started the Dirctor of USCIS (for CO and neighboring states) said the will start at about 11:00a. Crowd had a mild "boo" which could also be interpreted as a "OOOOhhh". I am certain about the thought that what was going through his mind :). I don't think he liked it.
2) Towards the end he said "Congrats, you don't have to deal with us any more". People "laughed" in a good way and i think they liked his sence of humor

Oath ceremony in Denver for such large crowd was first of its kind in colorado. The actual oath itself started around 12 noon. Overall the ceremony was good but i thought they could have organized better. I applied for passport on the same day, but didn't opt for expedite service. The USPS gentlemen told me that nowadays the passport processing is faster and i should get it sometime around mid or 3rd week of June.

Thanks to all you guys for helping me during this process.

Just FYI...the Regional Director mentioned during the oath ceremony that they are planning to have 12000 people naturalized by September 2008 (keeping in mind November General election) and i believe they have administered 4000 so far. So for next four months there could be massive oath ceremonies.

Actually I believe he said 9,000 so far for this fiscal year.
That means 3,000 more until September.

Congrats on your citizenship.

Miami also had huge oath ceremonies yesterday - 15,000 people in five ceremonies:

I have also seen reports lately of upcoming mass oath ceremonies in Phoenix and L.A.

I hope other DOs follow suit! Otherwise busy ones, like mine in NYC, are on a sure road to a new bottleneck as they process the applications from last summer.

Speaking of NYC, imagine a mass ceremony in MSG?

That's a lot more then last year when I had my oath in Denver. We had I think a total of 250 people or so and the room seemed full...
