Immigration Voice (http://www.immigrationvoice.org) is a non profit grassroots advocacy group working to alleviate the issues of Highly Skilled Foreign Workers who are stuck in the Employment Based Green Card Process stuck in Bureaucratic Logjams.
So why not start working on helping yourself and helping your fellow immigrants?
I agree IV is a non-Profit Org and working for a great cause,
but I personally feel,This Non-Profit Org is not at all welcoming to the users.
The reason I made the above statement is, frequently one group of people (people who contributed some money) talk low about the others ( who are YET to contribute).
The way I understand it is “ A Non-Profit Organization” is a "Non-Profit Organization" PERIOD. You don’t see any NPO bashing people for not contributing MONEY.
No one can deny the fact that IV is working for a selfless cause, but it doesn’t mean that every Tom, Dick and Harry who contributed some money have the right to speak low about the others on NPOs public forums.
Take this scenario for example, a member registers/joins IV seeking some basic Information and on front page he/she finds this Thread “90% of member in this form are free rider”
http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12079
How welcoming/appealing is this discussion on a “Non –Profit Org’s” front page?
even if one is capable/willing to contribute some amount, the above thread and subsequent comments will drive away the potential contributors. (Well, you might say we don't care about such members who doesn't want to contribute MONEY) this kind of attutude is what I'm talking about which will drive away potential contributors, and this kind of attitude is often seen on the public forums of IV.
Its not just this instance but you can find such comments all over and surprisingly "Senior Members" add some fuel to such discussions.
I completely agree, for the efforts that IV is putting in, It needs LOT of funds/resources.
But there is always a proper/professional way to achieve that.
What surprises me is why don’t IV see KNOWLEDGE contribution as a contribution?
There are many people out there with plethora of knowledge on Immigration issues who are willing to answer complicated issues on IV , but they are driven away by non-professional silly comments made in general.
I’m not anti IV or anything like that, In fact I appreciate the selfless efforts put in by all the members to bring up such a nice organization. I feel bad that IV should not lose its reputation on silly things like above.
I say, All the Best IV. --Great Org for a greater cause
