Cut-off numbers for August released, enjoy!!!!!!!!

Ok had a look at 2009 2010 and 2011 and the latest July 2013 the average factor based on my model above is 2.5

Indicating the average high cn number limit with a visa availability of 15500 is 38750. With a statistical uncertenty of 5 percent between 37000 and 40000

I have not included 2012 as it would seem as an outlier

However there is another factor and that is the high number of Ukraine and Uzbek winners for 2013. E.g around6000 for Uzbekistan. No country can get more than 7percent of dv visas. Meaning only 3500 including family members. So probably only a third of the Uzbek dv winners will have a chance leaving maybe 4000 eu numbers redundant.

In addition, I am a doctor... Is it an advantage or disadvantage? Do they welcome doctors coming through dv??

Congrats to you too. The case number you have is pretty good. I would expect you to get your interview around this time next year. You will know the appointment by the visa bulletin when your number becomes current.

Your profession doesn't give you an advantage or disadvantage - the only requirement is a US High school education OR 2 years experience (in the last 5 years) in certain jobs (which being a doctor will be acceptable).

Being a qualified doctor in the US should help with finding work - which will make the re-settling easier on you. HOWEVER you might find that you have to do some aspect of study/re-qualification in order to practice medicine in the USA. I'm sure you can check that.

Without a doubt, the OP will not be able to practice medice right away without some sort of re-qualification in the US.

Should be with us between the 15th June and 20th June.

I am on a MAJOR roll. Tomorrow I get my Tanzania police certificate and within two weeks my UK police certificate. Next week I'm going to get my butt jabbed with vaccinations boohooooo :(

Well the July visa bulletin had Asia in July up to 9850 and then the August prediction was CURRENT which must have been a pretty big jump. Hopefully DV2014 will be similar. Your number is indeed high, but you could expect (or hope for) an interview in September 2014 (perhaps August). You will have to watch the VBs next year to see how things are progressing and keep your fingers crossed that it goes current again in the last month or two.
