Cut off date reached, but still no visa number?

Hi everyone,

I have a question for you experienced people. We have filed my son's petition back in 2003. His priority date is on July 18 and his case has been sitting at the NVC for many years. Now the visa bulletin was published for October and the cut off date finally reached July 22nd which means his case is within the cut off date. When I called the NVC hotline the automated message said that there are no visa numbers available. Does anyone know why that is the case? We still haven't gotten any letters from the consulate to prepare for his interview and the affidavit.

Please advise.

Thanks!

That is correct. Is it October yet?

Well, in your first post, you were asking why there were no visa number yet, and you got the answer from TRC

Probably, but with the unpredictability of visa numbers NVC may have been playing it safe. I'd call back after October 1st.

I see. Thanks for your answers guys! Do you know if it might be possible that we go into October and they retrogress the October numbers, although they have already published it? I can see that they can retrogress November numbers once they publish the November bulletin, but has it ever happened to retrogress an already published bulletin? You guys are more experienced in this and could give me the correct answer.

Thanks!

Actually, it's pretty strange. Usually they send out the papers about 3-5 months before the priority date. I'd certainly call them on Mon without waiting for Oct 1st. Not the automatic line, but to speak with the live operator to find out what's going on.

Hi! I did apply for my children back in March 2003 and I have not recieved anything from NVC yet....
I did call today and they said that they have lots of backload for September...

Hi kittenKat, I did talk to someone today and they said that it is not always around 3 months. A lot of the time it is 4-6 weeks before the priority date. So we still have 2 weeks time...

That is a little strange. Why would they post the new dates if they have back load? And March has passed since two bulletins already. Maybe the other people can say something about this?
