Culmination of a Long Saga - My wife got her Immigrant Visa!!

Congratulations Rahul :D :D :D :D :D :D
I am happy for you brother. Good job!!!
I plan to do the same thing for my Mother when I receive my Citizenship God Willing. I haven't seen her in five years and she is a sick lady. I have a question however, when a person receives an immigrant visa overseas, they have up to six months to travel, am I wrong?

Congratulations!

Where are the decorators? Come all, deck the apartment and get ready for the new life. At least next 9 months our moderatory will feel sleepy at office, living in the cloud 9. So better make alternate arrangements for another moderator :D :D

How much time does it take to get a spouse to US with DCF? i.e. Once you are a citizen, from the day you fill in all the docs for DCF about how much time will it take to get the spouse to the US?

Didn't you read the timeline Rahul posted?

Sorry I just read the timeline. I should reword the question. Rahul's case take 2 months from the date of filing I-130. I guess I should have asked how much time does it take or rather what is the process for filing I-130 in New Delhi. Can I just fill it here in the US and mail it to the US embassy or does it go to New Delhi through the National Visa Center in the US. If it is through the National Visa Center how much time does it take for it to reach New Delhi.

CONGRATS Rahul (Mr & Mrs)!!

You deserve it and Immigration god is with you!

One quick question, you mentioned DCF can be filed for parents also. Can you share on that a bit. I thought folks from India have to wait for dates to get current for parents, brothers etc.

Congrats once again anyway.

Regards

I don't think parents fall into any of the backlog categories. I believe you may sponsor them right away. Experts... please comment.

Parents, Spouses, Unmarried kids of USC's under 21 have no wait time, and you can expect their cases to be processed in just a few months by the consulate!

Thanks Rahul,

My mother currently has a 10 year visitor visa. So once I natz, and file DCF for her, does she have to appear immideately as per the date or is there a 2 year time period as exists under the normal application process?

Thanks for your time.

My conversations with the New Delhi Consulate

Call ND Embassy and find out if DCF is still being accepted or not (There are always rumours that its gona be removed blah blah)

FYI: I called the New Delhi Consulate (the correct phone numbers are listed below)...it took me a while to reach the right department so I thought posting these phone numbers would be helpful...

011-91-11-2419-8506 or 2419-8154 or 2419-8639

The number that worked for me was 2419-8154. They are mostly engaged so it takes a lot of retrying and patience. Call only between 2:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. Indian time.

Now, here is what they told me. CURRENTLY, there are no plans to remove DCF. Please note, since I am attempting DCF in mid-April, I specifically asked if DCF applications were being accepted until the end of April and was told that they were.

I also emailed the consulate at INS.Ndi@dhs.gov and got back the following information documents/emails (attached). Hope this is helpful. Again, DISCLAIMER: this information is current as of March 3, 2005.

Again, CONGRATS Rahul!!

Ratrat :D

My Wife arrived today in her Immig Visa/GC. Im all excited! The immig officer who FP'ed her told her to expect physical card in 6 months. I doubt if it takes that long, but it remains to be seen
