Criminal Trespass Warning - Citizenship

Hello,

I received a criminal trespass warning at Bestbuy. Had an argument with one of the store reps, who called the police and told that I was trying to shoplift. Police gave me a CTW and never gave me a chance to explain anything.

I am a GC holder and in the process of applying for Citizenship. Will this affect me in any way. My understanding is that this is just a warning and I should not go to Bestbuy and if I do at that time it might become criminal record.

Is this correct? Any information will be highly appreciated.

Also, is there anything else I should be worrying in regards to this other than the Citizenship's perspective?

Thank you in advance,

ABHanuma.

Were you arrested? Did you go to court? Plead guilty or not guilty to anything? Got fined or probation? Received a written citation? Got detained by the police in the shop or station?

If none of those things happened, then all you have is an unfounded accusation that turned into nothing, and you don't need to disclose it on the N-400.

I wasn't arrested or I didn't go to court or anything like that. Police arrived in the shop gave me a CTW (pink slip) and asked me to leave the shop and never show up in any of the Best buys.

Does this include shopping online at Best Buy?:D

I wouldn't worry about disclosing such a warning unless you want to add unnecessary attention and delay to your case.

Thanks for the responses. And of course I wouldn't buy online either, instead I go to frys, which got better stuff anyways :)

Is that kind of warning considered as written citation?

Thanks Bob.

Will this get pulled in any kind records in the future? Will this affect my employment/credit or any other records? Also, some one mentioned that this is usually only local to the city/town where it happened, is that true?

Also, my 11 years old daughter happened to be there, and before I was leaving, cop mentioned that they will inform Child Protection Services and told me not to panic about that at all. Based on how she said, she was trying to threaten me, but might not actually do it.

Sorry if I repeated any of the questions.

It is just a warning so it won't affect your employment/credit or any other records.

just be cool and be careful. Do not risk any tickets.

They took my license (didn't take any copies) to verify if I had any records in the past and not my SSN. But, Bestbuy took a copy of my license.

Don't mention this incident at all...

Abha,

You don't have to worry about disclosing this situation. You were never entered into any criminal database, except Best Buy (BB)just wanted to harass you. So, keep your mouth shut and never volunteer this information during your N400 interview, YOU WERE NEVER DETAINED or CONVICTED OF ANYTHING. The only crime you commited was to look at that HDTV too much, raising the suspicion you might steal it...:D I don't even think BB remebers you, but only go to a BEST BUY out of town where they don't know you, I haven't see your picture at my local BB. :p When are you filing?
