Crime in the United States

It is a matter of where you intend on living and race. In the Los Angeles area there are gangs of almost any race. The area known as south central is known for black gangs. Between them to two main colors are red and blue. I dated a man whose mother lived in the area. At the time I owned a red Toyota and didn't drive it over there because it was the "wrong" color. In my neighborhood any color goes. If you are white and in south central you could drive a red car safely. Mostl cities have detailed crime statistics , once you deicde where you are heading for those can help you choose where it is best to live.

Being at the wrong place at the wrong time can be dangerous any where in the world.

In most Countires in Europe guns are against the Law but criminals always get them .....crimes committed with guns are committed in the US by criminals...no difference.
 
Never heard gun crime happening as much in Australia or the UK, Europe in general compared to the United States. But yes it is being the wrong place at the wrong time.
 
crime rate in the US is just insane ...wrong place wrong time is correct saying but only apply to some super safe countries but not for the US where you can go to grocery store or even mcdonalds and get killed ..just outside of Mcdonalds s in miami (lincoln road and washington) I witnessed people being attacked and stabbed and that's city center !!!and premier tourist destination ...also it was mid day and not some wee hours of the night so about safety I can't say anything positive ..
 
well, all I can say is be carefull who you associate with, it's not incomon that 2 best friends turn into enemies & one kill the other...
One of my girlfriend's cousin's friend just got shot to death yesterday morning in New york over some bullshit... He loaned his car to a friend who got an accident with it... So logicaly thoses two got into an argument & his friend killed him with multiples shot...

europe in general? I know you hate on the USA but Belgium which is western Europe has a murder rate twice as high as the usa... about 10 per 100 000 of murders while the usa has 5.7 per 100 000...
Liege's (in belgium) murder rate will be amoung the top 10 in the usa, Anderlech is as violent as Compton, Anvers murder rate is higher that Washinton DC's one who is amoung the top 5 in usa...

Washington DC with 144 murders in 2009 for 599,657 peoples is worse than Anvers with 155 murders for just a litle over 470 000 peoples...? What, next time you will say that USA is worse than mexico right?

Liege in belgium had 55 murders in 2009 for 192 000 peoples while miami (one of the highest murder city in usa) had 59 for 433,136 peoples...

Immigrants that are coming through the lottery, have to prove they won't rely on welfare. So, unemployment checks are out of the question. I assume, you meant that he's receiving them in France ? Then why do yo care? That's none of your business.. And if he gets selected, he could take out a student loan which is completely legal. Andwhat is "a potential immigrant" in your words anyway? Someone who got a degree in his home country ? Most foreign degrees aren't even recognized in the US, so going to a US college is way better than coming here with a degree nobody's gonna look at.. So, stop judging and insulting people you don't even know.

Will you stop with the education bullshit. If he bought a degree in the subway, would you consider him educated ?

Plenty of people are going to the states specifically to get that better education. But some simply cannot afford it because of the high tuition fees for international students. This is where the lottery comes in..

Besides, there is already a visa category for the "educated" ones.. and even that way, not everyone gets it..

If a person can get an education in their home country for a fair amount and have to pay here, that is completely understandable...why would the USA give anything to a student that can't show anything special. US students wants to get a reasonable education payment plan or scholarship as well...

The DV lottery is just what it is a lottery...visa's are in place for any one proving to be able to be here with funding, where ever it comes from as long as it is legal...and if a person is coming here on a scholarship it means they get it for something they earned it for...

It is not that any one is entitled to anything.
 
My point is- circumstances are different for everyone. For some - winning the lottery could be the only way for something better or even to try something new , regardless of their status at home. For others it could be a disaster. For someone else it might just speed up the process of receiving a greencard. And yes there is probably some percentage of clueless people who have no idea of what they're getting into...And I think education has nothing to do with it. This programme, lottery, opportunity.. call it whatever you want, is just a chance to get in..the rest is up to the immigrant. I know it's bugging some of you that some strangers are coming there just like that.. but please don't generalize, calling everyone who takes part -stupid, uneducated etc.. It amazes me how many think they are better immigrants than others.. I'd understand if the guys that are saying all that stuff, were born and raised americans, but are you? I don't think so. Makes it even funnier. And if you hate immigrants so much, maybe you should pay more attention to thousands of mexicans crossing the border illegally...

I know places in Europe where you better not go, but tourist have no clue...the same counts for here.

We had friends over from Europe and they wanted to see the bad places and the best places just to see what they saw on tv in Europe and if it was true...we drove there during daylight and were not scared, but I don't want to stop in the middle of the street.

Also one piece of advise...if you are easily annoyed in traffic, than keep it to yourself in Florida since guns are allowed and if another person feel threatened than they are allowed to shoot, so better think twice before startign an argument in traffic...it is not happening often, but better thinkbefore you act, don't mess with the wrong person.
 
Arizonia is in a class by itself when it comes to guns. You are allowed to openly carry in public so you see people with guns strapped to their legs walking down the street.
 
people in the US are under a lots of pressure so all kinds of incidents happen on a daily basis ..you might see a punch out between comuters in NY metro on almost daily basis
..also road rage crime is 3X times as big compared with numbers just a few years ago etc ..also mass murder is increased 10X in the last decade or so...etc ..not to mention that reason population has surpassed 2 million people
