May be I am not that knowledgeable with these rules, these days. But what's up with the finger printing at the POE even if you have a GC.

I just returned from Toronto, once in May and once in July and was never finger printed at the airport. I'm wondering why!

I have been issued a new passport about a year ago, and I got my GC on my old passport. Although I have traveled in and out of the US many times with my new passport and GC, since, I still wonder if I need to inform anyone about my new passport number. Any idea?

Thanks for your time

When coming from Canada, don't they do the immigration and customs in Canada itself, allowing the plane to land in the domestic section of US airports ? Perhaps they have different rules at those "POEs".

Pretty sure for any POE at US-located airports you have to do the fingerprinting and photo.

Finally

Finally at the Montreal airport they finger printed me and took my photograph..

But then again there was no stamp on my passport.. guess it just varies ..

I came back from a visit to Montreal and I noticed they didn't even stamp my passport. But it was before the new FP rules.

You do not even need passport to go to Canada, GC is more than enough

Not quite accurate logic. The only reason one would not need a passport is because they have a GC. And this has nothing to do with FP in any event.
