My wife applied I-130 and G-325A in May. We have received a file number and all and the status online shows as : "Case received and pending."

The case is being processed at the California Service Center. After checking the time frame online, it shows that the dates being processed as Jan, 2005.

Is this reasonable or just an exaggeration ? I am a Canadian citizen and my wife a US citizen. Should we just change our application process or something to get this processed faster ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

You have to wait for the I-130 to be approved. You seem to be looking at the wrong date. Look at "US citizen filing for spouse...". Dec 2007 seems to be processing right now, not Jan 2005.

Yes you are right !! Thank you for this correction.

So if I am not mistaken, I would get an application package in mail that I would have to fill up and send to the US embassy in Ottawa (the city I currently reside in).

Do my wife and me would have to go for an interview together or what ?

Thanks !!

You will get a package from the US Consulate in Montreal.

Your wife does not need to attend the interview, but it is always better to have the US spouse standing besides the beneficiary.

I always thought that my case will be processed by the Ottawa Consulate, but it seems like cases like mine are handled by the Montreal Consulate.

Thanks for all the help "Triple Citizen". I am in the same boat as you were :)
