Conversion J1 to F2

Hi,
I am a J1 scholar for past three years (completing 3 years on 5th May 2005) in a US university. My husband will be graduating from the same university with an MBA and will have an F1 OPT status.He has s job offer from a company and they will be sponsoring his H1. To maintain my legal staus here I wish to become his dependent (F2). My queires are:
1. If I file now, how long will the conversion (J1 to F2) take ?
2. Will it create any hindrance for my husband to change his visa status to H1?

if you don't have home residency requirement, the change of status will take 3-4 months. It will not hinder your spouse's application for H1 and then yours for H4.

I have already taken the waiver for home residency. So, I guess, there should not be a problem in our visa status conversions. Thank you so much for your guidance.
