continue working while change from H1 to H4?

After my application for change of status from H1 to H4 was approved in 02/2004, I continued working for my H1 employer and getting paid for 3 more months. Am I considered out-of-status during those 3 months? Do my H4 remain valid?

----- ask your lawyer you may face problems working on H4 status in future Or go out of US and Enter on H4 status again

Thanks Ginnus. More specifically, my H4 is valid from 02/19/2004. But the notice date on the I-797A is 03/30/2004. Do you think that I was legal to work in 03/2004 because that is when I received the approval notice? Thanks again.

---if H4 was approved on X date (it does not matter when you recieved approval notice in hand) then work after X date is unauthorized work. talk to your lawyer for more info
