Folks:
One of my friend is going through topsy-turvy route with the current employer. He is still on H-1 B. He is contemplating to apply for a concurrent H-1B (that would fall under the quota). In the event if anything happens to his H1B he is planning to jump onto the concurrent H1.
Basically the intent is to have a back-up or security.
The question here is:
a. Is there any specific timeframe that the concurrent H-1B can be kept or used in an idle status; ie because my friend intends to still keep working on the H1B through his employer and use the Back up only in the case of an eventuality?
b. In the event my friend travels out and comes back into the US will the Port of entry authorities have any questions.
c. Will there be any tax implications of having 2 H-1B - one in an active status and another in an idle status?
d. Is there any other pros or cons that i may not have explicitly stated above that my friend has to be cautious about?
Your responses as always appreciated.
Thanks.
