Company not sponsoring visa - Any issue ?

Hi,

I've recently been hired by an IT company but on hiring they said that they will not 'pay' for H1 visa but will give all the required paper work from their side.
But on speaking to a lawyer, the lawyer told me that it is REQUIRED by law that the company pays a substantial amount of the visa sponsoring fee. He was willing to speak to the company directly regarding this matter if I chose to go ahead with his services.
Will my visa be affected in any way if the company doesn't pay for it. ?

thanks,
swe

Usually many consulting co are doing this these days. The way they work around is, you hire the the attorney and pay him and check to INS goes thru company pay check (and they will detect under some expense from your paystub). So as far as INS is concerned everything is per law. I would suggest not sneding your personal check to pay for INS fee.
