My former employer has sued me for $20K for leaving his company before the contract period of 24 months.
Is this civil case filed in local county office in any way affect my green card processing through my new employer.

Many thanks,

Bx

It depends on ur court case (Only guilty verdict or guilty plea may affect gc case). It will go into records. Please talk to ur lawyer (both immigration lawyer and civil lawyer) immediately.

even I had left my employer before end of contract and they could not do anything.
get hold of good attorney and make a strong case against them havings points like no salary raise, discrimination[even if this has not happened!] etc..i'm sure if ur attorney presents a good case against them, they will withdraw case against you. BTW was this formal employer was 140 petiotioner? I feel this case should have no effect on ur pending 485.

This is a civil case, not a criminal case. Your main priority is defending your pocketbook, it should not affect immigration.

Thank you

Sincere thanks for your valuable advice.

They never file 140 for me. I’m still in the labor status with the current employer
