Citizeship

So what your proposing is basically an amnesty for illegal and non-immigrants who have lived in the US for at least 10 years to be eligible for citizenship. This will never be approved since legal permanent residency is a basic requirement for citizenship eligibility.

Bobsmyth, thank you. Is it wrong of me being so upset or disatisfied at illegals? We live in AZ and it seems as they have an easier time with INS and legals do. Might be just my patience being too strechted :)

As someone who went through the process legally, I strongly oppose any kind of amnesty. To give illegal immigrants a free ride would be a slap in the face to everyone who underwent the immigration process via legal channels.

Having said that, the OP's suggestion is directed toward legal immigrants who've been waiting for a GC for over 10 years. I just read his post on Citizens' Briefing Book.

Actually, here is what the OP is suggesting:

1. If they are legally here for 10 years (With approved I-140 and waiting for Adjustment of Status without current date).
2. If they have earned full 40 points in Social Security.
3. If they have paid the tax continuously for 10 years.
4. If they own a house and paying Mortgage (adding weightage to the Economy boost)
and
5. If they do not have any criminal records in these 10 years.

The OP's suggestion is based on frustration with retrogression of availability dates for certain countries (China, India, Mexico, Philippines) something that occurred after 2004. Unless visa limits are increased, I don't see why permanent residency requirement for citizenship should be bypassed for those in retrogression with approved I-140 and having lived in US for at least 10 years.
