Folks,

I'm preparing my application for citizenship below is my details.

• Application based on 5 years as LPR

• Wife is an LPR

• Kids are US Citizens

• My total days outside of US have been approx 100days in last 5 years.

• I have been employed by the same company for the last 5 years.

• No traffic citations or arrests.

So my application looks straight forward. However

My wife and kids have been out of the country since May 2008 till March 2009, and again from June 2009 till date.

Please note she has a valid reentry permit till Sep 2010 and she does not intend to apply for citizenship at this point in time.

My questions to you folks are:

1>Will my wife's extended stay outside the country have any bearing on my application.

2>Would it be necessary to have my wife in town while my application is being processed, reason being I have read about IO's asking as to who all stay at the current address etc?

3>Does this warrant me to take some extra documentation and if so what are they?

... Collect whatever is required for your case. Your wife being out of country doesn't trigger any extra paperwork in your N400 application

3> Its best to have tax transcripts, utility/credit card bills, mortgages/leases, bank statements etc. although I don't think you will need anything extra. See the sticky at the beginning of this "Citizenship" forum to find a complete list of documents recommended.
 
No no no. You spouse can be in Saudi Arabia for 10 years, as long as she/he has valid entry into the US, your application for citizenship won't be affected by her/his traveling or place of residence...:rolleyes:

My case was also straight fwd like you (green card thru employment, worked at 1 company for 9 yrs, little travel outside the US), but he still asked me who all are staying at my home and how many kids I have....So, I think this Q builds a trust level with the IO, even though its not a reqd thing. For your case, since your family is outside the country, I'd be honest with IO and mention it (ONLY if asked).

Your wife's status does not affect your eligibility.

No, since you're not filing based on marriage.

Not unless you ever failed to pay taxes, or have a criminal conviction.
