How, I will be having US citizenship interview soon. But I have a parent who is in the US illegal (over stay); how should I answer the question about family memeber? should I not tell the officer?

Please help. Thanks

Unless the officer specifically asks you about your parent and their US status, you do not volunteer this information. If and when asked, answer truthfully. Having a parent with an overstay will not result in you being found ineligible for citizenship in itself.

I think, if your father is an illegal immigrant, this won't affect your interview. Say the truth.

Always say the truth, You're under oath!!!

That doesn't mean you need to volunteer information.. Just like their (ex)policy in the US Military: Don't Ask - Don't Tell..
