Check this out!!Back log elimination news

Unfortunatly it doesn't affect asylum adjustment. 10000 cases per year rule still applies. Maybe we should join together and take this issue to the court. it's really a type of discrimination. None of other aliens are getting such a treatment as us.

The reason for them not to have lifted the cap until this day is, from my point of view, just extra controlling mechanism. I mean, think about it:
People are waiting for their green cards and in the meantime work hard, pay taxes, try to be extra cautious not to berak any law, not to raise their voices even a bit louder, even not to speed on a highway, try not to be a public charge... Perfect "citizens" without citizenship... Would they want to give up control like this voluntarily? And from their perspective, the more of us there, the better. Don't you think so?

You are correct...

Karina,
I agree with you whole heartedly. Slavery is not over in this country yet. I think just the race has changed. I think immigrants has assumed the role of slaves.

Very well said. I share you point of view. Enjoy the freedom people. Thanks to USA.

WEll you are forgetting that once you get your GC you still have to face CIS after 4 years or so during naturalization. And guess what. They again check for violations (although traffic ticket violations are not taken seriously only Felonies)

The parallels with slavery of Africans are amazing. They were not citizens with voting rights until 1965. We are the new slaves I guess!

Hi, If I had what you guy's have (aproved P/asylum) I would not give a dam for nothing else.
If I had P/asylum aproved I would not even bother my self with this forum even. :D
I am still fighting for P/A through out courts for 17 y's.
So you should chill and forget about ,you still got many years to go.

Exactly. Good luck with courts.

I agree with care2much ,No hard feelings,we are having most of the rights americans have (I say MOST not all) but we should be ok with that comparing to the terrible Govrnments in the 3rd world were most of us came from.Let's enjoy life until we get our GC,this country gave us most of the things we never had.

Gebre

Well care2much..Its human nature to want what you dont have. We want to get our citizenship..You want to have permanent status in this country...I mean during my asylum days..I would say "oh god please I just want to get approved"...Now i say "oh god I wish i can just get my Green card"..then I will be saying "oh god I wish i can be a citizen soon"...so its never ending..

But I hope that your case is solved and you become permanent...

Exactly, what diffierence, is it going to make if you have Green Card or not. I mean what extra can you do from what are doing now. Asylees enjoy all the benefits of permanent residents. For those who are thinking about going to home country after GC , forget it now. It would be as dangerous as it is now. You still need to use RTD for travelling. In fact here is what i think. Asylee gets GC the day their asylum is approved whereas others like H1B have to wait for years living in fear of being kicked out of status.
So, be optimistic and enjoy your status.

Thank you ,yes you are right , I wish I could have chance to bich about that :) I think I am not shore will i survive that moment ,permanent residence thats all I want ,don't care for nothing ellse. :(

When I waited 12 years for my green card, it was not a pleasant experience, and I have many reasons for that:
1. Your life is in limbo since you will have to wait longer for citizenship. Becoming a citizen allows you to claim a new permanent home that replaces the one you were uprooted from.
2. You have to renew your RTD every year and wait 5 months for it to be renewed. This is really hard if your job demands that you travel
3. Your status can be reversed any time especially as we suffer from the current rise of neo fascists in this country.
4. Some student loans are not provided for asylees
5. Some jobs are more accessible to green card holders and not asylees
6. Throughout the history of this country, the word refugees and asylees always have negative connotations- it is just not dignifying to be called refugee for 15 years!!!
7. What if the condition in your country improved and what if the fascists who pushed you away from your country were eliminated? Would not you like to go back at least for a visit? Asylee status will prevent you from doing that.
8. this is personal, but I could not vote. I wanted this bastard bush out :D
I can go on and on, but other members who wait for longer times can weigh in.

Dude Asylee has no respect. An H-1 has all the respect out there from Immigration etc. We are permanent but also not permanent. We can travel but don't know what will happen when we get back in the country. We can buy a house but we also don't know if we can get a loan because of asylee status.

We can marry but make sure the person is a U.S Citizen or our lives will be hell. H-1 can bring their spoues in the country in 90 days. GC holders can even apply. Being an asylee means, You cannot marry someone from your home country....Did I mention that ASylees have tough time getting a visa. Matter of fact, India doesn't give VISAS to asylees/refugees...Period!

Being an Asylee is good if you have your life set(kids, wife etc) and if you dont like to travel.
...But for young people who would like to marry someone from their country and start life with them..its tough for them. For people who travel a lot because of the nature of their job or personally..its hell for them.

As an asylee when you are out of the country, You guard your RTD more than your life. Its like Please shoot me but dont take my RTD because IF i go to the embassy..they wont know what an ASYlee is. Being an ASylee has lots of disadvantages...

/This creates a big cloud on your mind when you are walking around with a constant thought that you are a Refugee (or asylee whatever)
