My check got cashed today. So i guess the backlog started clearing.

N-400 application sent : 08/27/07
N-400 recieved : 08/28/07

What I dont understand- if some one can clarify this

What I dont understand is this. For NSC, USCIS website from this weeks update -they are showing that they are still processing applications that are recieved from 7/29 and for TSC it is still stuck in the mud at 7/22.
But, how come they are cashing checks from 8/28/2007 recieved applications (at NSC)?
That means that they are going to all of the applications for un-cashed checks and depositing them before they even enter the data into the system for reciept letter?

what a confusion. and it is never ending story from USCIS :D
there may be other posibility that the so called weekly update on delays is wrong on the info (which is not a new thing as an immigrant dealing with USICIS any way :p

From what I understand, the check is cashed a couple of weeks before the receipt is issued.

I'm curious to see if USCIS will process the applications by priority date or by the recent haphazard method the service centers have been cashing in checks.
USCIS really needs to implement a better load balancing method between service centers in order to avoid the discrepancies in receipting and processing times between service centers.

I think that this is an example of bureaucracy at its finest. The USCIS has not prepared themselves for the onslaught of applications that they should have foreseen as a result of the fee increase. I think that USCIS is barely keeping its head above the water right now. In an ideal situation, the information would be entered as soon as the check is cashed.

check cashed 9/27, still have not received notice-11/8

My app was sent 7/27, it arrived 7/31. Check cashed 9/27. Still have not received notice. I wonder if this is unusual??

With all the delays that USCIS experiencing lately, it wouldn't be surprising if they are late in sending out the receipt notifications. USCIS has previously assured customers that the date they received the application will be honored as the applicant's priority date. So even if your check is cashed many months later, the processing clock begins the day they received your application.
Have you noticed if there is a number in back on your cashed check? It should begin with WAC or something like that.

I'm not sure what naming convention USCIS uses in the back of the endorsed check. Just be prepared for a potential long wait of your receipt notice and processing.

PS. You may want to increase the font of your profile signature .It's kinda small to see.

Just for you and hope for good (USCIS will expedite the application for kind people only) J.K.

BTW, WSC stands for Western Service Center
