Changing From CP to AOS

Hi All. My CN is 2010EU000209XX and as we know EU case numbers are going faster than expected. According to new visa bulletin My CN will probably be current in February. So most people say that there is enough time to do AOS. So i wanna change my process from CP to AOS. But Before do that I have a few questions.

1-) How is the exact AOS process works. I mean, you send DSP-122 or DS-230 Part 1 and Part 2. Then check visa bulletin. 90 or 60 days before your number is current send the $375 for AOS then medical fee.get the AOS letter.what is the timeline of AOS.

2-)I am on F1 visa. SO i have to be full time student. but if i am full time i have to pay $19000 per semester.but if i am not full time i can pay 10000 per semester. so does anyone know when i can exactly drop being a full time student(one of my teacher said at some point of AOS you can drop being full time.because when you apply for AOS basicly they are canceling your current visa.

3-) lets say i did everything they accepted my AOS apply and they canceled my F1 visa. but i didnt get my interview date before november 30th. so am i going to lose both F1 and DV lottery chance or if they accept my AOS apply that means they are going to scehdule an interview for me even if it is later than november 30 th.

Please give me some info. i wanna change my process.because february is middle of semester and i dont wanna lose a semester.

You send the papers which you prbable already did, to KCC stating you will do AOS...so basically you only have to let KCC know you are changing to AOS, the rest stays the same. You pay $ 375.- to do AOS and have your medical done and pay for the medical when you are at the civil surgeon's office.

I'm not 100% sure, but as far as I know you stay a foreign student till you have your passport stamped or gotten your GC...till than you aren't a perminent resident.

If you haven't received your visa stamped/approval to obtain the GC before Sept. 30th 2010...or when they reach the 50,000 GC...you are out of luck and have to start from scratch...

thanks for reply. but i don t know exactly the time line. i am tring to figure it out by looking bentlebee's signutare.

1-) i am going to send $375 2 months before my cn is current.
2-)I am gonna do my medical after i send my fee for AOS
3-)I am going to get my AOS letter 1 month before my CN is current.
4-)My number is going to be current
5-)Then i am going to send a package(i don t know what this package is.) to Chicago

Then What.?

Than wait....the wait game starts....you are waiting for the biometrics letter and the interview letter.

It seems some office fields have long waiting times although DV cases should go faster, but following other cases...it seems some are still taking a long time.

My friend is waiting for her biometrics letter to arrive and her interview date...online her case is still not to be found....
 
what is in that package that we send to cicago and how long does it take to get biometric letter and interview letter? i know it depend on people and center but can someone give a min and a max time?
 
Copies of all your papers...HS diploma (transcripts...), College transcript, police report if you have it, medical sealed enveloppe, I-485, copy of the bar code + NL of winning the DV, receipt for doing AOS, birth certificate, copy of I-94, copy of passport/visa, 2 photo's, etc...

If you have kids and/or are married you might send in proof of that...
