My son is US born and we got his passport when he was 1 yrs old. Now he is 5 and obviously his picture on the passport does not resemble him. My question is that is there any way to change the pic on US Passport?

You'd have to submit an application for a replacement passport.
Validity of the passport?

Check the validity(expiration date of the passport). I think for the kids passport the validity is only 5 years. Please double that. If that is the case, then you will definitely have to apply for the new passport again.

That's correct. Minors under the age of 16 are required to renew their passport every 5 years.
