change of j2 status to j1

Hello,
i m currently on j2 status with EAD n my husband's j1 will be ending next year, so my question is can i change my j2 status to j1? if yes can i do so while staying in U.S? if cannot change my status then wats the other option?
my employer sponsors j1 visa only and though they accept EAD but my husband's j1 status will be ending after some time so whats the other option?
