I applied for my I-485 with company A. My I-485 is pending since 2000 with company A(more than 180 days). I got layed off in February 2003. I got a job offer from company B now(similar job title and salary).
1. Do I need to inform INS of new job.
2. DoI need to fill any AC-21.
3. What causes INS to send an RFE.
4. How would I account for the time since Feb when I was unemployed.(I worked on two week project on my EAD with company C in May).
5. Do they call for interview or transfer cases these days for Employment based applications.

Thanks for any input guys.

you don't necessarily need to inform INS. and i don't think us mere mortals know what triggers an rfe. but most employment based rfes ask for current employment letter and they want to check if job is similar to the one suggested in labor certification. they don't even ask to see current paystubs let alone every paycheck since feb. however, they have the right to ask for more info (pay stubs, bank statements where paycheck is deposited, w2 from last year etc) in subsequent rfes should they choose to do so.

i got laid off after 7 mos of filing i-585, found a similar job in two weeks, did not inform ins about the change. only after i received an rfe did i provide layoff letter and new offer letter. i got adjudiated after 2 mos without any further investigation.
