Change Oath Location for Name Change purposes

All,
I had a successful Citizenship Interview yesterday, and passed, in San Francisco DO. I'd like to change my name and SF DO doesn't provide that service.
I was wondering if anyone of you know, if it is possible to move my Oath Location (say, in Sacramento), that provides the name change service.

Any advice/feedback is much appreciated.

It's the DO that doesn't provide the service at interview, so moving your oath to another area is not going to help you. You'll have to request name change via courts in your area instead.

Yep, I'm afraid it is too late. I think it would have been easier to change your name before the naturalization. However, with time and money everything can be done. You can change your name through court now, then when you get your certificate you apply for passport under your new name with the certificate and whatever court papers (I haven't done this myself). Then you can also apply for a replacement certificate with your new name if you'd like to have a certificate that matches your new name using form N-565 and $380.

The only difference in the end is that you'll have a replacement certificate, not the original one, and you'll be $380 less wealthy. On the positive side you'd have all your documents under your new name and you'll probably not need to show the court papers again, as the certificate will help you reapply for lost passports or anything under your new name.

Huracan and Bobbysmith, Thanks to both of you.
The immigration officer said, if I bring the name change certificate on the oath day, I could just ask them to change the name and come back the next day or two to pick up the certificate with my new name without fees.
But since the process itself will take ~8 weeks, I'm not convinced I could get it before the Oath day.

So I guess I just have to start the process and hope that I could get it done earlier than the Oath Day. I really don't feel like paying additional $380 to the already expensive charge of the name change ($365).
What a bummer - wish I knew this way in advance... :(

Devi,

Have you got your oath letter on the day of interview or it will be mailed to you later. My suggestion, If you are not in hurry, wait for name change through court order. As mentioned by others you need to do name change in your district court.

Well, the reason I wanted to do this sooner rather than later was because I wanted to get my new name on the naturalization certificate.
But then again, I just checked the rates for placing the legal ads on the approved newspapers in SF, and they're really expensive! It's $43/ad, which means another $200 on top of the court fees of $365. Not sure if I wanted to do that now...
How about you, Sudha, did you decide to proceed with the name change?

I agree with you. It is expensive to change name legally. My situation is a little different. I had successful interview with immigration officer. There was some error in my 2007 tax returns and submitted amended forms later. I got a letter from IRS and payment dues. The IO gave me form N-14 form to submit the required document and officer gave me 2 months time from the date of interview. I was told I can submit IRS docs and name change doc at the same time. While waiting for response from IRS, I submitted a petition for name change in my district court.
