Change in visa status from F1 to H1

Hello,
I am doing a co-op in my CPT period. Since my I-20 is expiring on Dec. 20th, the company in which i work has agreed to do my H1 visa. I have the following questions

1. I am left with 6 credit hours of course work in my university. Is it possible to take courses though my visa status changes from F1 to H1.

2. Since my I-20 is expiring on Decmber 20th, if the H1 visa processing exceedes that time will my status be illegal, or do i need to get my I-20 extended.

2. If you are attending classes, you might want to extend I20. Otherwise if you have OPT then you can continue to work. You will be automatically on h1 from h1 approval date.
