My company did not hire a lawyer to do H1, the HR head did all the paperwork. Now how can i get \'certified\' copies of LCA and other docs?

Please help

I have read a couple of messages recently mentioning that "certified" copies of LCA and I129 are required for new H1.

I will be travelling to Mumbai next month to get my H1 visa stamped (via drop-box). My lawyer did not mention anything about carrying "certified copies" (except I797 which should be original).

Do I need to take certified copies of LCA and I129? If yes, how do I get them done because the originals were submitted to the INS when a petition was applied for on my behalf.
Moreover, the company now has new lawyers (different from the ones who filed my petition last year). I can\'t imagine them saying that the copies I have are certified without ever having seen the originals. So does anyone have any ideas?

You don\'t need certified copies

The original poster did not have the original H1, certified copies are substitutes.
However you can get certified copies from any lawyer. The LCA approval should be with your employer. I129 is the application. If all the info (name, approval category, duration etc.) match between all these documents you don\'t need any certified copy.

No Title

Thanks for the reply Jaxen,

I am not sure what you mean by the poster did not have the original H1. Are you referring to the original I797 or the H1 stamp? I yet have to get a stamp (am going to Mumbai next month) and so I\'m not sure what you mean by "original H1".

Also, you mention that LCA approval should be with the employer.
How about the I129 - isn\'t the original I129 with the INS. So who will certify that when the INS has the original.
Just to be certain, the LCA approval is form ETA 9035, right?

Anyway, I\'ll check with my attorney tomm.

Lastly, two unrelated Qs:
1) My name has been spelt wrongly on I797 and LCA -- Spelt Siddarth instead of Siddharth (1st \'h\' missing). Its right on my passport and original F1. My lawyers said this is not problem and they will fix it when issuing a visa. Wanted a second opinion on this ... what are your thoughts?
2) Company\'s address has been specified as San Francisco instead of San Carlos on LCA approval. (Street and zip are OK). Is this a problem?

Thanks again.
-Siddharth

maiti is original poster

Your case is different from maiti\'s. You should have posted your Q as a separate message.
regards to LCA, I129 you are right. I will repeat it again, If the data match you do not need certified copies.
