I am thinking of taking a cruise next year. Any experience? Any visas required? Anything else?

Thanks in advance.

Floyd,

It all depends on your citizenship and the country you are visiting. I know personally when I was on F-1, (Being a Pakistani citizen) I did not need a visa to visit the Cayman Islands. I went up to the immigration officer at Georgetown International Airport in CI and she asked me if I had ever been there before. I told her no, it was my first time. She stamped my passport with an entry and told me to enjoy my stay. You should check with each country's missions which you are planning on visiting as rules change all the time

It's not about citizenship since he's not travelling with his National Passport. He's travelling on RTD and he needs to check with those countries and see if RTD is recognized and if visa is a must.If I'm allow to go to Tikrit without visa as citzen of Afghanistan,I have to travel with an afghan Passport. The same law is not gonna apply to me when willing to travel to Tikrit with a US RTD or Permit despite my afghan citizenship.

Bahamas requires a visa for the RTD. I got it in 48 hours (I live in the D.C. area). Obtaining a visa was very easy (copy of the itinerary and hotel reservations did it for me). This was in August 2005.

I am not sure about the other countries.

It actually IS about citizenship. Despite the fact that floyd does have an RTD, there are instances where he would still need a visa DEPENDING UPON HIS CITIZENSHIP! So, like I said previously, he would need to contact the missions of the countries he would like to visit.

Thank you for your kind words, Lazer. I hope you get yours very soon!!! It just sucks that I can't even go visit family in Canada/Europe. I'm just kinda stuck here for a while. Has ANYONE received a Final Asylum after going through the Affirmative Asylum process recently?

ASSYLEE is right...It all depends on the citizenship even if you have the GC in hand. I know that you still need a transit visa for certain european countries even if you have GC in your hand..based on the country of your citizenship..

If you are from a muslim country, you are pretty much screwed...in every way from USCIS to other consulates. They stereotype you and you can't do anything about it..

Even at the airports. Its like a Scarlet letter in my opinion which is a shame.

yeah no matter what Bull Shit they give you regarding "equality" blah blah.. they scruitinize certain nationalities (mostly Muslim obviously) more closely than others..

Guys, you're definitely wrong on this issue.I was willing to travel to Morroco on my RTD and I don't need visa as a consequence of my citizenship. But when I went to morrocan consulate here in New York, the consular officer asked me to apply for visa since I was not travelling with my National Passport.

Since German laws allow US/candians Refugees-Asylees to get in it soil without visa on RTD,I never heard someone who got barred from entering Germany and being asked for visa because of his/her citizenship.Again, when travelling with your National passport, your citizenship has an impact. But when travelling with RTD/Permit, a policy on RTD/Permit from the country where you're travelling has to role.

Well, we can all agree that Germany allowing RTD holders entry without a visa regardless of their nationalities is an anomaly in itself as most "developed nations" do not have such a policy. And I don't believe Floyd is intending on going on a cruise to Germany.

I believe in the original post, Floyd wanted to take a cruise to the Bahamas and the Cayman Islands and other Caribbean destinations which do not include Morocco. Since the Bahamas is part of the Commonwealth, Floyd MIGHT be able to get away without a visa DEPENDING on his nationality. And since the Cayman Islands is still a territory of the United Kingdom, he MIGHT be able to get away with going there without a visa as well DEPENDING on his nationality. It all AGAIN depends on where the cruise will go and what countries the cruise will touch and what the policies of these countries are regarding travel documents. Since the cruises are catered 99% towards American citizens, when advertised, the cruises usually post a disclaimer stating that people opting to take the cruise must make sure that they are in legal status in all countries that will be visited knowing that American citizens will be pretty much eligible for entry at all of the ports of the cruise.

So, it MAY very well be possible that one or few of the countries visited MAY let the traveller in with an RTD but ALSO require him of a Visa since he is a citizen of country X. So I reiterate AGAIN what I said in my ORIGINAL post that Floyd should contact the missions of the country he plans on visiting to get more info.
