where can we signup for the notification of "case sent to local office"?

Also, there seems to be some confusion about when the case gets sent to the local office? Is it after the 5 year anniversary?

My local office is Fairfax, VA
I applied on 7/28/2010 but still have not received my interview letter date.

You need to create an account here egov dot uscis dot gov

If your citizenship was through marriage then its the 3 yr anniversary and if its Employment based then its the 5 year anniversary. Your case transfer depends on a lot of other factors too. Have you received the Yellow Letter (YL)? If you have then that signifies that the next step is "Case Transfer".

By the way, I too applied on the same day as yours and haven't received any notifications yet.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. and good to find out someone who applied on same day and from same area as well. I did not receive YL. My Finger Printing notice did not come for a long time so i called the 1800 number, to which they opened a ticket. I got a letter in mail (in response to the service ticket) that My finger printing from last time when I applied for citizenship (Jan 2010) will be considered valid.

I am planning to get an info pass appointment for fairfax office to find out if my passed interview from Feb, 2010 will still be valid and will that speed things up for me.

So you're saying, you had applied for citizenship in the past? What happened then? Did they reject it for some reason and asked you to re-apply?

If you can share more information about case, you'll probably get right answers.

Yes, I had applied before. My interview for old N400 was in february.

I passed the interview but before putting a stamp on my file the officer said my 5 year anniversary was not yet complete. He was correct, I applied with rest of my family thinking it will be OK. They did not catch this error on my part during any step but the interview process.

So I was told to apply again on july 28th, 2010. Which I did. Now I am waiting for interview for my N400 which I applied on july 28th, 2010.

For my July 28th application the USCIS said that my old fingerprints were still valid so I did not have to take new ones.
