Case # 2008EU00025XXX, will I ever get an interview?

Hello Everyone,
I am new to this website, so sorry if this question was asked previously or if i should already know the answer!
I wone the DV lottery and my case # is EU00025XXX.
I am currently living in the US on a student visa and therefore my interview will take place at a USCIS office, but I will be finishing my master in January and was planning on going back home to Italy (I could fly back for the interview, or should I ask if I can have it at the ambassy?). They told me that I need to make an appointment when I see my number is current. Then they will give me the forms to submit to get an interview.
Does any of you know what are the chances that my # will be current? and if so, when?
Thank you so much! Any advice is appreciated!
Valentina

Valentina2008,

According to last year's bulletins, your case number will be current in August. If you are lucky, it might be July. You will have two or three months to complete this process. You should go for consular processing in Italy. AOS (through USCIS) will most probably not be complete by September 30th. You should send DSP-122 and DSP 230 to KCC asking for consular processing. They will schedule your interview for August or September. Get all your documents ready by then, and hope everything will proceed without any obstacle. If you do everything timely and carefully, I think, you have a good chance to get your GC.

Good luck!

you should definitely do consular processing with your high number. Don't forget to get Optional practical training. You should apply for it before you graduate.

Well I dont know about you, but I am definitely getting an interview.... :-) ok well maybe not definitely but I am trying to keep positive about it. I have posted a good bit about having a high case number on this forum over the last six months, and I have come to the conclusion that it is still very possible to get the GC with a high case number. That said all the information I have read has led me to believe that people with high case numbers should not attempt AOS as that process can be lengthy, where as CP can, and typically is short and sweet. :-) (a few weeks anyway)

DV 2008 is FAR from over and I reckon if you resign your self to returning home to Italy for CP then you should be just fine. For those of us in the EU 25K bracket July, Aug. Sep (with a bit of luck) will be really our only opportunity to get this GC nailed.

Hello All again,
I was wondering if you know what/how I can change the selection between having the process go through the USCIS or CP.
I have unfortunately already sent forms DSP-122 and DSP 230 to KCC asking for USCIS processing :(
Can I change my mind?
Thanks!

Ciao Valentina 2008, congrats on becoming current, I'll have my interview in Naples in June are you going to interview there too? ciao

I would strongly discourage anyone else in DV08 from filing for AOS as the processing time seems to be lengthening considerably.

We spoke with KCC regarding switching to AOS (before we learned that USCIS had finally receipted our case). You need to send them a letter stating you want consular processing. They claim that it will take ~4 weeks to proccess this letter and that you will be included in the next batch of interviews scheduled at that point. I think they will probably do better than 4 weeks.

Hello, my number is AF43XXX. I have already opted for USCIS and my number may be current in August or September. Do you think that I have to switch to CP?
