Hello:

Run into an accident today around noon with my child in the car. Did not think of anything but to clam the baby down. No one was hurt during the accident. What happened was i had just finished changing lane and got hit by a car that had just pulled out from a parking lot. I spoke to my insurance agent and the agent is sure that the other party is at fault. My passenger doors were slammed and dented. I might need a new door and the other party will probably need her front bumper (the driver side) repaired. I am not so worry about the claim as i am confident that it wasn't my fault. We did not call the police. Actually, i wanted to but figured that it is not worth the money and time to sacrifice my child's well being as she was threatened and screaming when it happened. I did not want to put her through waiting for police and a hour or two investigation under the sun. Anyway, my conern is my N-400 application. What would happen to me? Should i submit a documentation when going to the interview? This is more like a collision type of accident, no one is hurt or injured. HELP.

You weren't arrested, charged, or ticketed for anything, nor do you have any reason to believe you did anything wrong. Why do you think it would affect your citizenship application? Do you think you have to confess to USCIS every time you fall down or spill a glass of water?

I have not heard of cases requiring such incidents to be told at all. If you got a ticket, yes there are places in N400 requiring you to tell so (even this area there is room for lot of debates).

Glad to hear the baby is doing good and all are ok and I can imagine exchanging info insurance etc while the baby is crying. You only think of baby's good

The accident will not influence your application.

Glad you and the child are doing okay - accidents are always unsettling.

Curious what you mean when you said "not worth the money"? I'm myself not sure whether or not to call the police after an automobile accident?

Thanks.

Thank you.
It is going to cost me some money to get the car fixed (my deductible) and i am sure i am going to come out clean as i had the right of the way (i am on the street and the other party had pulled out to the street and this is when the accident happened). In any case, i am at no fault and her insurance agency is going to have to pay for it. YES, having a police there to document it will make it easier but putting my child in the position does not benefit me or the child. I just wanted this done so i can get her home to her familiar spot when she can feel safe (besides lunch and nap). This is what went on in my mind. I am sure every parent out there will do the same for the children's best well being.

This is non-event for N400 purposes and does not need to reported to any govt. entity. It is now a private incident between your insurance agent, the other driver and yourself and no one else is involved. Just try and forget it once you get your claim resolved. It is not a crime againts anyone nor is thre any damage to public property involed.

dont worry

I had three accidents so far. One it was other parties fault. Twice it was my fault. I was ticketed for only one fault. I have mentioned the only one incident where I got ticket in my n-400 form. COuple of my friends had accidents and it was their fault and they got tickets. They mentioned it in n-400 form only because there was police record of their case. Do not worry unnecessary.

Thanks everyone

Thank you for all your answer. I just want to be aware of what i am dealing with when it comes to time. You all made perfect sense.

Thanks again

No need to inform USCIS since you were not cited. The other party is not suing or pressing charges right? According to you, it was not your fault, but did the other part agree with you? This is America, people love suing each other. Just make sure the other party is not working on a suit or thinking of bringing any charges.

Just wanted to make sure. Do I have to tell them about this incident when i go to the interview?

YES! my insurance agent is handling the claim and told me that the other party assume all responsibility for this accident.
