Canadian citizen crossing border showing only passport?

Hello,

I am a Canadian citizen/U.S. Green Card Holder, I got my green card with my parents (who reside in U.S.) a long time ago. I have never actually lived in the U.S., so I know if I present my green card it will be revoked at port of entry due to not meeting U.S. residency requirements. So, my question is if I just want to go shopping or visiting my family no exceeding 1 month, could I just just present only my canadian PASSPORT and not mention anything about my green card? Or will my green card status show up on my passport electronic information and have custom/border agents questioning me? Thanks.

You can officially surrender your GC status at the POE to clear the air for all future visits to the US.

But the key question is, when they swipe my canadian passport, can they see what my status in the U.S. is?

They may or may not see you previous status. No one can speculate that. Since you live in Canada, just officially surrender your GC status and be done with this worry for all future US visits.

You do not need your physical card in order to surrender your GC status.

True, but if the OP has no plans to even use this status, why not clean the slate once and for all?

File the I-407 to officially surrender your status. Otherwise you could get caught in a catch-22 situation where they block you from entering as a permanent resident because your status was abandoned long ago, and they also block you from entering as a visitor because you're demonstrating immigrant intent by trying to enter as a permanent resident.
