Canada: Single Entry or Multiple Entry Visa ?

Since our RTD is valid only for one year. Which Canadian visa should I apply to:

Single Entry Visa $75
or
Multiple Entry Visa $150?

What will happen if I apply for a Multiple Entry Visa and I travel this year before my RTD expires, and later when my RTD expires I want to travel to Canada again?

If I get a new RTD, will the Multiple Entry Visa in the old RTD be still valid?

Or the canadian visa will not be valid anymore?

Canadians DO NOT issue visa beyong the validity of RTD. And Single Entry visa, which is valid for 6 months, can be used multiple times provided that you are making entries from USA NOT from 3rd country. So its your choice. Multiple entry visa will give you another 6 months for traveling.

Thanks. Then, I will apply for a single entry and will save some money. Thanks again for sharing the information. :)

Do we need a visa to go to Canada???? I have been to canada twice and both times without a visa!!!

Were you using RTD to enter Canada? Were you driving or flying into Canada?

Thanks and I am planning to go to Canada in the next couple of months.

driving is the easiest way, not much delay or questions

I received my single entry Canadian Visa today, it is only valid from August 23 to September 30. I need to go to Canada after September, what should I do?

One is end of November 2005, another one is end of December 2005.

After read carefully one Canadian consulate website, I found that I could use the single entry visa to enter Canada, then IO will stamp the RTD for the duration of time you permit to stay in Canada. Then you could travel between Canada and US with the time period. Is my understanding correct?

Correct... since you are from a country that does not require visa for Canada?

If you have your US issued RTD you do not need a visa to go to Canada. I've travelled there just using my RTD.

Oh YES ! you do need a in US issued RTD to travel to Canada. The Canadian Consulate website explains in detail. If you do not have visa , you will be returned back. memo might have been overlooked by a new/untrained officer.
