Can we stop congratulating people in public?

1. you can send a private message to the person.
2. "congrats" post conveys no information, it's pure noise. With the site performance as it is, it's a pain to click on an updated thread, see that it has no information and go back. And then do the same thing 10 more times. There's like 1 worthwhile post per 10 stupid congrats.
3. we know you're insincere and you're just doing it cause you think it adds to your karma. A 10 year old would figure that out. Private message adds more karma, believe me.

I suspect now all the congratulators will tell me to drop dead once I post my "i'm f***n approved!" message, but I doubt it will ever happen in this universe, and if it does I so won't care:)

Well, nobody is going to tell you to drop dead :) But you've got to take this in the right spirit. This forum will not mean much if there's no personal touch. Although it's more efficient to have pure information but what's the incentive for people posting their information. After being here for so many years, I feel the sense of community and have found myself identifying with other members. I try to help them with their problems and share their happiness by congratulating them. After all, this is the least I can do for the tremendous support I have gotten from this fabulous community.

Exactly..

It is a very frustrating experience and you should know against whom to direct your anger at. Be courteous to others. and more importantly, learn to be f*** patient !!! How did that feel ?

I am honestly happy if someone , even if it is not me, gets out of this mess. HONESTLY. I dont care about karma (as I am not familiar with it) plus people telling their experiences help a bunch. Thank to this board I have learned a lot. You are upset because you have not been approved, oh well there are thousends like you.

Live and let live.

guys,

tell you what god luv you allllll....and i get a positive feeling about my own case# everytime someone gets approved..

With the site performance as it is

Site performance used to be a problem a month or two ago, when there were a lot more people frequenting the forum. After an upgrade recently, performance is definitely a lot better (to me, at least).

it's a pain to click on an updated thread, see that it has no information and go back. And then do the same thing 10 more times. There's like 1 worthwhile post per 10 stupid congrats.

That used to be annoying to me too - having someone waltz into the forum and update ten different threads with a one-word "Congratulations" post. Some would take it even further, and post the exact same information (not "congratulations", but some particular aspect of their case) in multiple threads. It is a waste of time for others looking only for unique information, but this forum is what it is, and people are who they are. Like MA_Labor mentioned, there are many members here who become familiar over time - the same kind of problems, sharing of solutions, etc. So when you see a familiar name get approved, there's bound to be a reaction. That's human. Get over it and get used to it, or don't - either way, it isn't going to stop others from doing what they want simply because it pisses you off.

3. we know you're insincere and you're just doing it cause you think it adds to your karma.

This is the statement that prompted me to respond. You wrote it in another thread, and I let it pass then. Oh well...

I suppose your belief is that everyone who congratulates in public is insincere? What about those (like MA_Labor - sorry to keep picking you out as an example, man) who are already approved? And who is the royal "we"?

And, since you know so much about others' intentions/inclinations, perhaps you also know why USCIS hasn't approved your case yet and you're working on fixing that?

From your signature, it appears that your FPs have expired. It would appear to me to be the only reason why your case (which is far older than many others that have been approved) is still stuck. Or it could be that you haven't updated your signature. Either way, what's your story (with respect to your case, and what you have done to move it along)?

A 10 year old would figure that out. Private message adds more karma, believe me.

Too bad we all left the "10 year old" stage in life far (or not so far) behind us. The things we believed we had figured out when we were 10 years old...

And why would anyone believe you anyway?

I suspect now all the congratulators will tell me to drop dead once I post my "i'm f***n approved!" message, but I doubt it will ever happen in this universe, and if it does I so won't care:)

The amazing thing about this place is that people here know *exactly* the kind of frustration you feel about your case, and understand where your rant is coming from. Unless you verbally abuse or insult someone, no one will hold this rant against you when you get approved. And when you do post your "i'm ..... approved" message, you will still get "congratulations" posts, whether you like it or not. ;)

The late August LUDs on your case are a positive sign, but the absence of updated FPs is not. If you haven't done so already, you should try to find out what's going on with your FPs.

Well, thanks marooned42. You're right about the site performance, it's not that bad since they stopped refreshing the updated post highlighting every time you hit back, I guess that's what was killing it. But that means I have to manually refresh it now. But anyway.

MA_Labor is a fledgling entrepreneur who has a site to plug, so there's your explanation. Not that there's anything at all wrong with that, more power to him!

Everybody else is either superstitious (old timers), or merely selfishly cheering for themselves hoping they'll get it soon too and not end up holding a bag like the likes of me. Or a very special person, a kind one meets only a few times in a lifetime, there can't be many of those. So I estimate that a great majority of congratulators are insincere and wasting everybody's time with the noise they're creating. Since they wasted my time I feel I'm entitled to rant at them. I know very well it won't change anything, but hopefully I'll have pissed off some of them.

I called TSC a couple of weeks ago and it was acknowledged in the conversation that my FP expired and that I should get a notice. Didn't get any mail since. I'll call them again, but from what I can see the actual approval doesn't block on the FP, people get approved and do the FP afterwards, and then get the plastic card.

Thanks for trying to help, I would have appreciated more venom though, I'm in that kind of a mood today:)

I personally have no problem with congratulating people and feel really good when someone gets approval. The other thing that REALLY bothers me, is that every post named "Spoke today to TSC(NSC, VSC)", which contain useful information, ends with the "What is POJ trick?" or "How to call TSC" question and explanation to the person who can't find a search button on this web page...

Or I dont have the Gold Cover of the RFE

What do I do when I do not have the Gold cover sheet of the RFE, Should I respond to the RFE myself or should I route it thru my attorney, et al.

FPs are part of the "security checks" you have to pass before you get approved. So, updated FP results are almost always a necessity before you can get approved. The reason I write "almost" is to factor in USCIS' unpredictability. However, they would have a very hard time explaining to anyone why they even bother with FPs if they don't use it to determine if an applicant is eligible/hasn't broken any laws.

You may be confusing FPs with biometrics (just the photo, signature, and index finger print). Biometrics don't need to be available for an approval, and there have been quite a few cases where the approval notice was followed by a biometrics collection notice.

The biggest obstacle in getting a quick FP notice (in my estimation) is the scheduling of that FP appointment at the local ASC. For whatever reason, it sometimes takes weeks. You'll be doing yourself a favor by trying to provide FPs to the local ASC without waiting for the new FP notice to arrive (take an Infopass appointment, and tell the officer that TSC told you that your FPs have expired and they'll send you a notice, but they still didn't). This doesn't always work, but you have nothing to lose by trying - other than perhaps a day of waiting at the ASC.

It is a sad fact of this process that each applicant usually has to drive the whole engine forward to work on his case, or else risk (by doing nothing) placing his case in the not-always-competent hands of USCIS and awaiting that lucky day when the eye of USCIS gazes kindly upon his case. When you have seen that your case isn't being processed according to order, you just have to assume you're not one of the lucky ones who gets approved without lifting a finger and start working on all fronts to get this thing moving.

Ok, I did not know that they do block on FP. Thanks for all the useful info marooned42. I'll do what you suggested.

Anand,
I am still waiting to get the original RFE from attorney. If I do not receive it before friday, I will be taking a copy (Gold color) and planning to send it on my own.

I have talked to the TSC IO and informed the same, the IO said, that (Copy in gold color) is fine. In addition to this, I called the NSC customer service and confirmed the same. Why are you asking now anand? Did you get any response from TSC.

Yeah, that is true, every time I come here I see congrats email with having any substance.. The integrity of the FORUM should kept alive... people who got GC posting their APPROVAL endeavor message with out even posting their details in the signature.
My 2 cents.

I agree. Typically a guy gets approved, creates a new thread with the title "Approved". Then next two days the thread keeps floating to the top as people post a one line "congratulations". Every time you think it's a new approval, only to find otherwise when you click the thread. A week or so later the card arrives, and the process repeats itself. Now multiply that by a few hundred times and it can get annoying. It gets outright frustrating when the entire thread does not even mention when the application was filed.

Here's my solution - if you get approved and create a new thread please put the APPROVAL DATE in the thread title - and please mention atleast your RD in the first post.

Funny

This is an imperfect world although some ideologies have tried to make it perfect i.e socialist, fascist etc. The idea was to consider individual and other societal interests subordinate to the needs of the state. They said that Americans were having too much fun and were corrupted by materialism.

See what happened ... They failed badly while America still thrives on materialism :)

Let's for a minute, think what would happen if we take all the human element out of this site and make it completely statistical, data oriented. Then how would it be different from all the trackers that floating around? You could go to http://www.trackitt.com , it’s out there.

My 2 cents (in typical forum lingo), let people communicate with each other in the way they want to. This forum has thrived on being imperfect so far and that's what it does best.

A question for you, who would you call first when you get your GC? Your spouse, parents, brother/sister, friends. For many of us this is family, let everyone share their happiness.

Going back to the OP, the post made me smile. It reminded me of the Garfield email thing that comes around every once in a while...
"God, if you can't make me thin, please make all my friends fat!"

:)

On another note, having people to congratulate is a very good thing. In October we may go back to being "blah.... nothing new happening this week except one EB3 with PD of 1969 getting approved"
