Can lawsuit jeopardize my chances for Green Card?

My alien status (me and my family) is "Adjustment of Status" and "Advanced parole". I recently had my biometrics taken and I am waiting the Green Card to be issued.
I recently bought a house and I moved from the apartment I was renting. Unfortunately the landlord thinks I owe him something and I do not agree.
He just sued me and I will face the small claims court in April.
Would this lawsuit count as a negative aspect before the Green Card is issued? Should I avoid this lawsuit by paying what the landlord is claiming just to avoid having immigration problems?

I appreciate any thought.

Thanks!

Why can’t you choose to pay only if you lose the case in the small claims court? No, you do need to pay before the court makes the decision.

There should not be any immigration consequences to a civil law matter.

I agree with RealCanadian. Civil cases has no bearing to immigration issues only criminal cases have. If you believe that the landlords claim is unjustified, fight him in the court.
