Hi

I just got my GC.

I plan to continue for working for my Sponsoring employer for atleast 9 months.

But I want to Start Working with OTHER employment, not related to my skills or qualifcations ( say McDonalds !!) keeping my current employment as such.

Is it OK from immigration and other perspectives?

Hope for input from senior and experienced members.

Thanks

You have complete freedom to pick your employers. Since you got an employment based GC you are doing the right thing by intending to stay with the GC sponsors for 9 months or so. Apart from that you can pick any employer for your secod or third job. Just make sure your taxes are in order and you don't compromise your health :)

Is cash job ok? I mean as a part time working at gas station on cash job and no taxes. I think we have been paying more than enough taxes.
I dont know if it is ok, because if you get caught IRS will make you pay (it is not legal)
Remember: Al Capone was the most powerful man in the mob and only the IRS was able to sent him to Alcatraz.... dont play with the feds.

You can do any additional job on the side while on EAD or GC. The questionable thing is if you leave your sponsor too soon (with "too soon" not yet clearly defined) to take the other job.

That's nice. I feel we have been paying too much in taxes too.

Unfortunately, the federal and state governments don't like it when you don't declare income. When they find out, they charge you interest and penalties, throw a lien against your property, seize some property, garnish your wages and in the worst case, throw you in jail.

Then, they let ICE decide whether tax evasion is a deportable offense.

By and large, when it comes to to you doing what you please and not paying tax, the government also can do what it pleases.

Thanks for your response. But i thought most cash jobs had no taxes. I mean people working at gas station get paid in cash. Do you think they(employer and employee) pay taxes? I guess it varies from state to state. In state like NJ, there is full service, no self service.
