Hi,

I have a question regarding the I-485 process.
My husband is a consultant.
We are palnning to move to New Jersey to stay there for few years due to some personal reasons and our
I-485 process is going on in Nebraska Service Center. My husband is working in the same company . Can we move to New Jersey to stay over there??Should we need to inform them about our change of address??If we inform the USCIS about our change of address ,will they transfer our I-485 process from NSC to VSC??
How long does it take to get our I-485 approved if we change the address??

Thanks and Regards,
Datta.

-----> If the change is just a temporary one, there is no need to inform them and further confuse them. Have a friend or somebody check your mail here, in case there is a RFE etc. If the change is permanent (u are vacating ur aptt/selling ur home), u would have to inform them.

-----> Nobody can answer that for sure. Sometimes, they would transfer ur case to the service center for NJ though usually NSC would continue processing ur case. It may or may not lead to a delay.

Goodluck!

once you move by law you both have to file form AR11 for change of address and if you wish you can update USCIS service center that the address on your I-485, spouse I-485 should be changed becase if the address with USCIS is not changed then if you file AP or EAD it will go to your old address and then it will be returned to USCIS. better update the address with USCIS so that you recieve EAD, EAD reneal or AP at your NJ addrees.
read how to change adddres:
1 file form AR11 for address change (for all family)
2 update NCSC on 18003755283, your new address, provide them your EAC# of I-485 or any pending petitions with NSC, provide the receipt#, your name, DOB, A#
3 write letter to NSC for address change on your I-485 or any pending petition with them provide your past and NEW address, attach I-485 receipt copy, write your name, DOB, A# on cover letter. Send the letter to service center with certified return receipt and out side the envelope write in big bold letters ATTENTION: ADDRESS CHANGE
